Islanders Playoff runs
I always had a fondness for the place, though many talked about the harshness of the security and cops outside... On my birthday 4/29/84 I recall the banners in the rafters for the Islanders playoffs, division if not Stanley Cup championships! it felt like they were muted especially compared to when I had seen them in Hampton and New Haven earlier in the tour. Coulda been dosed too hard too, tho!
the 84 was the first time at Nassau, for me... but pleasant experience, if not exceptional shows in the years following.

Nassau '81 N3 Finale
Monster first quarter: Half-Step->Tower->Stranger, Bird Song. Even this Rooster has a gritty early '80s vibe that I really dig. Set closes out strong with China-Rider. As for the second set, Estimated->Eyes pleases, especially the transition worth checking out. A nifty little Brent Truckin' intro, there, I must say.

terrible venue? Not reallly,bestplaceonearth
I dunno, they seem to have played there 59 hundred times so they obviously liked it. Try 4/30/84 for sheer insanity and reminder of items from that date. anyways this sounds good to me especially as someone who came on a year plus later, would have....4 starsI don't know here in 2016 sounds like 8.5 stars.

terrible venue
The venue is terrible, though Charlie Miller's work is stupendous, as always. This is around the time I stopped going to "shows" and, just as I recall, I really wasn't missing much. But I am glad these recordings are available on the archive. Two stars.

Good show Good sound quality. There is some of what is called hiss between songs if that bothers you. It don't bother me because I grew up playing 78's, 45's, & 33's on an old stereo from 1960. I think it was the first year they sold stereos.

Solid Show
Very nice show with super sound quality. Even when I hit the patch after Black Peter, I was more than happy to listen to the rest of the show.
1st set highlights:
Mississippi 1/2>Franklins>Stranger was a really nice start to the show. The prolonged instrumental wrapping up 1/2 step was especially nice as well as a nice bit of guitar work on Stranger.
While not a huge fan of the Rooster, I really thought this was a really hot rendition.
While I won't go into detail on the rest of the 1st set, I thought it was all really well performed and enjoyed listening to it alot.
2nd set highlights:
Thought the Lost>Saint was really solid, especially the Saint half.
Almost always enjoy Estimated with its cool groove and lots of crazy work by Jerry to wrap up the song.
Encore made me chuckle a good bit. Other than the chuckling, I thought it was a really deliberate and tender rendition of BP.
Overall, definitely a show to listen to with a steady and strong feel throughout.
