Short solid show
Hilarious slow version of Quinn, Jerry must've had a big hit before he came back out for the encore.

oh, I remember this May 91 run.. it was a great time to be on tour.
Lazy days of West coast spring, sun shining warm, nice easy drives.. Shoreline.. arrive at the lower parking lot about 11am, spend the day in dreamy hazes soaking up the bay area sun. Wandering in endless circles around the ever growing scene. Girls with bells, spinning for a miracle. The ongoing cry of the burrito vendors. Tailgate paradise. The crowd grows as the morning becomes afternoon.. the buzz in the air growing.. suddenly, 3 feet away..MIRACLE.. someone got one! good for them.. the enthusiasm moves like a tsunami thru the crowd.. the lower lot is full.. the lines at the gate begin to build.. beer swilling hits its earnest stride, the time is coming.. the gates open, and the crowd surges.. waiting our turn, mailorder glitter tix in hand.. muddle through the staff pro body-cavity search and to the turnstile... Excelsior!!!!.. inside once again! The scramble to the lawn.. the afternoon hints toward evening.. everybody is happy, and high as kites.. the band hits the stage and the best part of the day begins!!

I was there...
Good solid 91 performance, one of my all time favorite years. some of my fondest memories were at shows like these. nice easy opener with Mississippi, and sweet second set kicker.

Good Show - Bassy Quality
This show was sandwiched between two exceptional nights at Shoreline 5-10-91 and 5-12-91. I think those two are very worthy, and this is no doubt a good show - good Aiko - however the tape quality here seems to suffer a bassy, muted quality compared to other SBs here.

Great Sound, Decent Performance
Sound is Great. However, IMHO, this night is nowhere near the performance that the previous night was. There are some slight glithes in the recording itself. Promised Land has a cut in it, and there is a fade out after Iko and previous to Playin. As well, there are some other cuts between tracks that make for choppy, not seamless, jumps from track to track.

It's a lot about Bruce
The day I heard Bruce would be playing with the Dead I was just giddy. This show and 5/12 are just some of my favorites. That big piano reminds of Keith's addition to the band mid-late 70's. The sound here is nice and pretty rich and the show just rolls along and keeps me smiling. I think Bruce's addition makes this one a keeper.
