its not just mr charlie thats on the 'europe 72' album, there are a ton of songs in this show from europe 72

This is a great show overall but on the track listing the last eight songs are not in order. The correct order following Morning Dew is Going down the road feeling bad, Not Fade Away, Bo Diddley, Not fade away, Uncle John's Band, He's Gone, Sugar Magnolia, Comes a time. So, for those of you who are downloading this to play back in your windows media player, real player or whatever, you might want to edit the track order accordingly.

Bring this show on your next trip and you'll have a great ride. As another reviewer pointed out before, many of these tracks made their way onto 'Steppin' Out' and if I'm not mistaken the Mr. Charlie is the 'Europe '72' version. All the Lyceum shows are worth getting, of course, but this is a show to treasure for years to come. Yet another gift from the Archive, etc.

My grade is for the quality of recording, which is by no means bad, believe me. It's just not absolutely exactly perfect.

I agree its a great show. Dark star isn't as intense as other from this period; seems a bit aimless at times. I believe 5 star shows should be reserved for the absolute best playing/recording quality. I cannot give it 5 stars because of sound quality problems. Particularly in morning dew which has a scratchy distorted sound. A better download is 5/26/72 (this is true 5 star material)

The others are right, this is a great and overlooked show... playin one of the best from '72, hot hot good lovin, great long and jammin dark star>dew, nfa>hey bo diddley>nfa is primero.... this is for a long car ride to play over and over again they were on this night and this show has alot of dimension to it. A pleasant surprise courtesy of the good people of this board.

Another 5 star show you say? Yeah you gotta hear this one, folks. I only recently obtained this in trade this year, and was immediately blown away.
Although 5/26, the last night has been long in circulation, and a hard show to beat, THIS show now tops it for me. Of course, I love a good Dark Star, and they really deliver the goods tonight. Well over a half hour, with Drums. This version kinda reminds me of the Fantasia segment with Mickey Mouse as the Sorcerer's Apprentice. Things get wild and out of control before calming down to a peaceful ending. The following Morning Dew is just heartbreakingly good, possibly even better than the one from the album! One of the better Dark Stars of the tour, and I've heard them all (except 4/17, damn why does that have to be missing?).
This was the opening night at the Lyceum (the picture of the setup is in the Europe 72 album)and the boys were on a mission from God to come back to England with blazing colors! Great versions of Tenn Jed, China Cat>Rider and Ramble On. This show is also distinguished by having some rare versions of songs like Top of the World, Rockin Pneumonia and the Bo Diddley riff in NFA. Not to mention the great Comes a Time. The Uncle John encore is almost overkill.
The Dead had really hit a peak by this point, and it shows. One of the best shows of the tour, also sterling sound quality, for 1972.
Get this one now Dark Star fans!

i'd gotten a crummy, slowed down and hissy copy of this back in '85, and cherished it. many a late night i would play the dark star->dew b side while laying back and thought drifting. it is smooth as silk: a warm ambient dark star that reaches some grating crescendoes as well, especially after the first verse is sung, in the jam before morning dew. i believe this is what dolgushkin calls "the tiger." jerry does complete out of this world fanning, while bobby hits "wier"d chords and phil lays out a menacing, but warm, foundation. however, in this dark star, the madness still hits me as pretty. there seems to be digi-noise akin to an fm tuning just out of whack during this section, but it is hardly noticable. after sweet versions of sitting on top of the world, rockin pneumonia, ramble on, and others, the dark star oozing into morning dew (could there be a more perfect coupling?) is one for the ages. get it, you won't be disappointed.

This show sounds great and is so much fun to listen to! A great tast of the Europe '72 tour.

This is a great show with a wide range of sounds and emotion. The recording sounds real nice and clean/clear and the boys are having a good time. A bunch of these song appear on the 'Steppin' Out, England '72' cd and if you give this show a listen you'll know why. Recommended for every reason no doubt...esp. SOTOW, Mr. Charlie, Dark Star & Comes a Time
