Road Trips? We don't need no stinking Road Trips!!!
This is a very good '77 show, just finished listening to the whole thing, end to end. Some of the highlights include Half Step, Tennessee Jed, Music Never Stopped, Candyman, and the whole 2nd set jam which peaks in a crushing version of Whart Rat, and is nicely bookended by PITB. The return of Playin is very reminiscent of what they were doing in the early 70's, when they played those mammoth versions of the songs.
10/14/77 is definitely worth getting, and you don't need to worry about the so-called "Official Releases," often indistinguishable from the nonofficial releases. Why spend your hard-earned money, enriching folks who really had nothing whatsoever to do with this music. If you know where to look, you can get high-quality SBD's and AUD's of pretty much any show you want. Jerry would've wanted it that way. 'Nuff said.

Good show! - now back on the Archive.
(Don't you cry anymore)
Some vocal flubs 1st set but musically tight show.
Don't know if it is just me but the Wharf Rat jam sounds like it contains the seeds for Victim or the Crime?
(17 minutes of P.I.T.B middle of 2nd Set
and then another 5 minutes of Playin' >2nd encore)
I gotta tell you that Donna more than makes up for what we lose from Keith's A.D.D in his last few years.
--- super duper smooth BROKEDOWN.
The way this band could drift in and out of Playing in the Band was nothing short of amazing.

why/
Whose brilliant idea was it to release partial shows & not make the unreleased portions unavailable? Give me whole shows or give me NONE!!!! Greed is NOT good.

another loss for us...
I am getting tired of commercially released cds being released and they only contain parts of a show. The same goes for 11-2-77 which was partially released as Dick's Picks Vol. 34. So now there are parts to the show web sites can't host, and we can't go out an purchase them either. If they released cd's that would just span a great show, I would have no problem purchasing it. But these piecemeal compilations are not doing anyone any favors.

his is a crisp show......i didn't get this from the Bettybords but always saw it in Deadbase.....they also did a smokin 72 show there. Can any local HOU folk tell me where this place was/is..? I go to houston alot and in a city that the boys played in certain venues I try to visit and just pay homage and vision the vibes there......I walked around Hampton COL on Thxgivin day 2 yrs ago...it was cold and just seeing the lot empty and that beautiful arena ....i swear that place is charged........I saw it fly off one night like a UFO.

Where in Houston?
Hoffienz Pavillion is on the University of Houston campus and is a great place to see a show. You walk in and you are at the top of the stadium and the stage is below you. To get there take I45 to Cullen and go west about a half mile. Enjoy.

It is a little hissy but not bad. There's better and certainly alot worse.
Back in the day of tape trading I seemed to play the 10-29(killer Jackstraw),11-2 and 11-4 shows the most from this leg of the tour. I never bought the 12-29 DP not for any reason just never bought it untill a couple days ago and its as sick as I figured when I picked it up finally. They could do no wrong no matter what season of the year or venue.
Peak Dead! (whole'77 tour)

Sounds Fine To Me!
This is the last performance of Brokedown Palace for quite a long time (12/26/79 to be exact). Nice one, I'll have to check out the rest of the show some time!
Thanks to Bill Golden for making it available.

Some great moments
I was fortunate enough to have acquired a cassette copy of the second set of this show in the mid 80's and it remained important enough to me that I re-copied it several times, thus furthering the diminished sound quality. But I didn't care; the rambling, jazzy Playing in the Band constantly inspired me, and the transition from drums into The Wheel continues to move me. Looking forward to exploring the first set. Thank you for posting this, to allow all of us wheedling their way into the digital age to find more formats in which to enjoy this hissy gem!

THERE IS NO PROBLEM HERE THIS IS A GREAT SHOW+
Hot Half Step, whole first set one the best musics ever.... They are playing their freeking harts out on Bertha - There in nothing average about this show... The bone crunching wharf rat will prove that+
Sound quality is not optimal but who gives a sh*t?
Hint: Turn the volume up you hear less his and more music

A decent 77 show bogged down by some tape hiss. Dont look for any best evers on here and expect some tape hiss. Defiantly check out some other 77's first.
