The Grateful Dead is an American rock band formed in 1965 in San Francisco, California. The band is known for its unique and eclectic style, which combines elements of rock, folk, bluegrass, blues, country, and psychedelic music. They are also known for their live performances and for the devoted fanbase, known as "Deadheads", that has followed the band throughout their career.
The band was led by Jerry Garcia as a guitarist, singer and leader, and his unique guitar style, vocal and songwriting influence the band's sound. The band's lyrics often dealt with themes of love, peace, and a carefree attitude towards life.
The band released more than 20 studio albums, several live albums, and many singles. Their most successful albums include "Workingman's Dead" and "American Beauty" both released in 1970. The band’s long-term improvisational style, which blended different genres to make a unique sound, is what cemented their place in the music industry.
The band has disbanded after Garcia's death in 1995, but several members of the band have continued to play and tour as various spin-off groups like “Dead & Company”, “Furthur”, “Phil Lesh and Friends” .The band's music and legacy continue to have a huge influence on many artists and bands to this day. spiderman games online

As the band strides easily through their Spring tour, what awakens here (and the following night) must be another exodus. Sweet jamming by-the-plenty, attic tunes, by the heart strings are known. Surely, these songs are the best iterations of what I’ve heard so far be played this far through 1973. No-contest being drawn for 1972. Since any given month from that aforementioned year has evidence of their Bodhisattvan guidance. So, take that for what you may. Paradise begins at the end of Your ears. I am comfortably seated, listening to RFK73 on a Wednesday somewhere within my 27th year. A strong pull comes to sift my attention in every-which-way. I don’t mind. Given the opportunity to have my previous gourd rocked beyond belief another day by the Dead. I can’t speak to the music anymore, or at all, since each song, and passing chord is another completely different tune. The unanimous form of the WALL OF SOUND towers among men and can’t be received by the shallow comments of tuning arrangements and sly candids about their lyrical progression. Each show is like this, you see. Some more prone than others to people’s own dependence. You may agree, or not it -- doesn’t matter much to me. Be happy that you’ve found something worth spending your time listening to — in the moment, that’s why we’re all Here. Can you argue so much with Fate?
Peace ~ Nick.
(For what it’s worth, the Eyes played here might be the best this far into 1973)

While I agree that the following night is a somewhat even better show, this baby is no slouch by any stretch. I was there, my 2nd show, a freshman in college out for a special time in D.C. And OMG how special it was! The Allman Bros. were great! And this was the show when Phil wore an "Eat A Peach" T-shirt, the artwork from the album cover. I'm so glad I brought a camera, got some great shots from this show, still have the prints. Snapped one of Phil, Jerry, Donna, and Bob all singing the chorus at the end of He's Gone...printed an 8x10 of that one! Thought of Pigpen of course, during that song. He was there for my first show.
If you like to listen to shows that are almost mellow and laid back, check this one out. Especially true with a lot of the vocals. Not on Sugaree though! This one is a favorite, and not because I was there. Garcia's singing is much more innovative with the melodies than usual.
I wish I could remember when the break was, because there's a conflict between the recording and Deadbase. Phil is clearly heard saying they're going to take a break right after Tenn Jed. But Deadbase puts the break between IKYou Rider and He's Gone. I'll go with Phil.
Another reviewer below thought that the Wall Of Sound was used at these 2 shows. This is mistaken- the Wall debuted at the Cow Palace (SF) on 3-23-74.
The sonics were fabulous for an outdoor concert though, nothing to quibble about there.
China Doll made a deep impression on us, as most of us had never heard it before. This was considerably before the Mars Hotel was released, and since I couldn't follow the band around on tour, the studio LPs meant a lot.
All in all, an excellent show, IMHO.

What a weekend! Went with friends - we did it up right and got a hotel room. Opened the blinds on the room to discover we were directly opposite a window in the police station - at least that's what I think I remember........ Just out of High School - not a care in the world - seeing my two favorite bands together - couldn't get much better! google street view

We got a room in the Executive Suites Motel! Some DIVE but who Cared! 2 Days of THE DEAD and The Allman Bros.......WOW! I don't even remember how we got tickets but we went with nothing! Anyway, 2 Days of HEAVEN and HOT Weather and GREAT Music....What More can one ask for. It is so Nice to hear again because after so long and as HIGH as we were, my memory is good but short. I was certainly in no shape to write down a set-list!! One of the BEST Weekends of my Life! I Hitchhiked to San Francisco in the Summer of '74 and that is where I still reside! Winterland Every Night...The Works and ALL of the News Years Shows! Anyway, Peace Out!!

Anybody else notice the other verse in me and my uncle? instead of"I shot him down" Bob sings "I grabbed a bottle and cracked him in the jaw" did he just do that on the fly?? Or were those the original lyrics?

Hey, Fans of RFK '73, you WANT to hear Monte Barry's AUD FOB recording of this. It captures the thick, gelatinous, Heavy Live (Wall of) Sound, and the swell of the scene along with it.

We were at this show, both Sat/Sun and it had to be one of the most far out shows that we ever attended. It actually started Friday night out in the parkling lot with the sound system check. Had to be one of the highest I've ever been. The Dead, Allman Bros and Gentle Giant. It was so hot, and the sound was so sweet. At one point on Sunday after all the food and drink had run out, some dude was calling out that he was making a run to get some. Everyone was throwing money at him and I bet he had at least 3 or 4 grand when he left. Well after a couple of hours htis rental truck back in and the he was with a truck full of stuff. This Sat. show lasted until 2 or 3 in the morning. Same with the Sunday show. Missed work on monday and got fired well worth it. A lot of Mushrooms and great tunes. I miss the Dead

Subject: it's the Sound System -- awesome all weekend long... best sound there ever was!
The Dead, with their "Wall of Sound" during this weekend -- and the sound crew assembling it, mixing it, and getting them plugged into it -- created and produced the best overall sound fidelity experience I ever heard coming out of a PA System, period. It even comes across to me today, on the SBDs. All weekend long it sounded amazing and incredible: very deep and thick, totally full, super-smooth, yet vibrantly punchy, very crisp, and crystal clear. The dynamic range was remarkable for the time. It's ALWAYS the 1st thing that comes into my mind about this weekend: best sound I ever heard, best there ever was. 2nd thing was the jam on Sunday. 3rd thing was how long the Sunday show was -- 8 hours for the Dead. 4th thing was how hot it was on Saturday, for the day show, like 100 degrees. This was the 1st time I heard Eyes of the World (one of the best ever played). It all came together this weekend. The vibes were just right. Don't overlook the sound system for this one, and the people responsible for it.

It was the first road trip for 4 Jersey City dead heads. Roosevelt Stadium was a home field, then Nassau Coliseum, 1st show after Pigpen, but a bus trip to DC was a major " lost weekend" and it didn't disappoint. Got to the stadium about 5:00 am.... Not havin a tent or a car to hang in, we met some great people who were very willing to share the herb. The DC locals weren't real pleased to see all the Hippies...... And the wilding was very prevalent.... Sun started to rise and you knew it was gunna be a hot one. That added to the mental electric energy, " mescaline" LOL . Honestly ..... don't remember a lot of the show cept Jerry had pigtails...... and " Hot as a pistol but cool inside" crowd went nutz I think it was 115 degrees. and someone had a hose from stage in spray mode what a treat that was ! We were so spent we didn't even pay much attention to the ABB and didn't stay for their whole set. we saw what we came for ! GREAT MEMORY

If it wasnt for Jerry flubbing the lyrics (or maybe it was some kinda malfunction) for like a whole minute, I would say this is once of the most well sung 1/2 steps out there. Garcias voice just...I dunno...sounds smooove in it.

Definetely, not the best show of the era, but it deserves at least four stars/ First set is nothing special, but second deserve some attention. "Truckin'" is very nice, during transition to "Playing" you can hear intro theme from "Here Comes Sunshine". Also highlightes are: wonderful jamming in "Playing" including great transition to last chorus, and perfect "Eyes". Phil is doing great job there

This show (June 9, 1973) was by far the most "out there" Grateful Dead show. I was there. This was my second (out of about 30) Dead concerts (my first was Baltimore Civic Center (9-72). This recording proves that listening to the Dead depends totally on your state of mind and mood. The first few times I heard it, I thought the sound quality sucked (was flat), then ... driving to the beach (about 3 hours) I listened to it with the background noise of wind through the windows (which in a strange way minimized the sound quality blemishes), and I was on a flashback to the state of mind while I was there that day in 1973. Garcia and Lesh are absolutely in a parallel universe (and universes parallel to each other as well) during the breaks on certain songs (They Love Each Other/Loose Lucy). These are songs I generally don't prefer. But it just proves that the Dead can inject a mindblast into the break of any songs they play (favorites or not). What is amazing about the Dead is after 30 years of listening to them, I have never tired of their music, and am always hearing something new I haven't heard in live performances that I have listened to a hundred times or more. As I said, Ithe music changes with your state of mind.

As I was trolling through 1973 to pick up some missed shows, I noticed a number of them (not just '73's) have been pulled. I'm DLing this one on sound quality alone, and I recommend you do the same before it's unavailable too. One can't be too careful. Great SBD for this era. It's all there.
