This is not really the first grateful Dead acoustic set but I still love it
So this is a great recording and I enjoy it immensely I'm not trying to detract from it at all. However I do want to point out that this should be considered more of an accidental mini acoustic set. Only four songs were played acoustically, because Phil was late, it wasn't planned which is not a big deal really, but there was another incident earlier in 1969 of a late or missing member when they played several acoustic songs that I can't find the link for right now although I did try. Certainly it was equally long.. although, it might have been partially electric with Jerry on a pedal steel... I wish I could find it to clarify the matter... Regardless, either way, for the first full grateful Dead acoustic set I think we'd have to refer to the McFarlin in Texas, December 26th 1969 show. There we have a full acoustic set that appears intentional even songs like Uncle John's band were performed all acoustically. For some inexplicable reason the acoustic set is missing in some locations on the archive where it should be I'm not sure what happened there. I was still able to access the full acoustic set using a deadhead archive app from Android so it's probably still there maybe just a little tricky to find unless you poke around a bit

Great stuff
Very cool. Great show. Thanks for uploading this classic —the whole acoustic set is apparently “first time played” versions. They even tease Wake Up Little Susie, but Jerry concedes he doesn’t know all the words. They’ll bust it out soon...

great stuff
i actually found this show because a t-shirt i bought on the haight has this date on it... great stuff... a little confusing w/r/t the info in the reviews of 12-26, which talk about that show being their first acoustic set due to Billy's being "somewhere over Omaha"... However, this show starts w/ an acoustic set because Phil (the "tall, skinny guy," Bobby says) is "stuck in traffic"... So does this mean this show is the 1st acoustic set? a Mason's tease right before All Around This World, followed by laughter- this stuff is obviously off the cuff, and just effin great! The sound quality is excellent as well, with very little hiss. Do it now if you're a fan of '69... and who the hell isn't?
