To bad about Phil being lost in the mix, but I think I can manage to overlook this. Nice recording and amazing performance. Four stars for Phil not showing up in the mix.

This show is simply amazing, followed by some Hendrix, making this day perfect. On the anniversary of a most dreadful day, the music brings the light back into the equation, as always.

Heaven Help The Fool is delightful! Just amazing! It should have been on Reckoning. If not the original LP, at least on the bonus disc of the CD version. I have both.
As previously stated on a another 1980 Warfield show, I love these acoustic sets. I love electric Grateful Dead but these acoustic sets are awesome!

I double checked my Reckoning CD, Heaven Help the Fool is on the Bonus CD. I missed it the first time. My Bad.

I didn't forget about Phil, sorry Phil you're buried in the mix. We always know you are playin those wonderful Bass lines.

did all of the raving reviewers below forget that phil lesh plays in this band too? yeah, a great acoustic set because jerry is 'on' and jerry is 'up in the mix'. well, i have news for you people, the bass is buried in the mix. and i just can't see giving 5 stars for a bad mix. this IS a great performance, but it's sullied by the mix. phil is much more audible on a few earlier warfield shows.

Through our souls pass such beauty and light. If this first set was the last music I'd ever hear, I'd die happy. Nothin' left to do but smile, smile, smile...

Rosalie McFall is - BY FAR - the best version I've ever heard. The entire set is unbelievable, but Rosalie McFall stole the show.

Sound Quality is probably the best I have heard yet, some missing tracks though. If anyone knows where the rest of these tracks are I would love to hear them!

Not only is the sound quality about as good as it gets for a live recording from the early 80's, the band itself is right on the money. I can't think of an acoustic set that has impressed me more when hearing it for the first time. Even though the 2nd half is missing, we're smiling in Indiana, too. God Bless the Dead.

can't stop smiling

This show is making me smile, and I'm at work.
I don't normally listen to 80's dead - a bias I must learn to get over; I think it's the MIDI in later years - but this show is blowing me away. Part of it is the purity of the sound, which is incredible because I'm streaming this. Even the famous Betty Boards (cornell, etc.) don't normally sound this good. But they NAIL every song they do here. Wow.

Right now I'm listening to Cassidy again, which is a song I normally skip over. For whatever reason, it just works here. I wish they had done it like this every time.

Just the acoustic set here, but a real treat. The sound is fantastic, maybe the best of all the Archive 1980 acoustic sets. Great vocal mix and lots of Jerry!!!

This 10.11.80 Acoustic Set has some serious emotional meaning to this young listener. In my 10 years in love with their music, this one Set of music holds some very powerful moments. A+ sound, and some wonderful renditions of some Wonderful songs. A must hear.

GD 10/11/1980 - 1st Set - Think about the beginning of this Warfield run (shoot, just think about the Dead @ the Warfield and try not to smile :0))...and listen to the audio at the first few shows, and then this set-- g*d bless they are good...adjustments, baaby -- key to any pro-athelete...just like Jerr and the boyz -- and their very accomplished sound dudes...A+++
