Strange sound to this one, as if being played from across the land in California all the way back east...and I like it

Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Dec. 16, 1978
Nashville Municipal Auditorium
Zoiks! Goosebump-inducing finish here, too. Watch out
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Dec. 16, 1978
Nashville Municipal Auditorium
This one is a rip-roarer, for sure. Transition and beginning of Fire on the Mountain just sits right in the gooey-goodness place no "rock" bands have ever found. And to start the second set? Damn. Totally second everything AMDew says. ONLY the Dead can rip, shred, grind, AND jam at the same time with such dexterity. It is all that all the time, and it's mystifying ( to me at least)
Lazy Lightnin' -> Supplication
Dec. 16, 1978
Nashville Municipal Auditorium
That lick you speak of inspired me to look this one up, and Hooray, I posted it. I was gonna say that tho I wanderingly listened to the Lazy Lightnin'>Supp, the ending crushed my mind outta the park, and it was that little flourish JRock throws down that did it, plus they nail the vocal ending. (Note: Best experienced by listening to the show straight thru. GRATE ending to a first set.) Good call Brother Luigi.
Tennessee Jed
April 22, 1978
Nashville Municipal Auditorium
April '78 is darkly intensely beautiful and amazing and psychedelic rock-and-F*in-roll. Compare the two Nashville versions of '78, t'other being 12/16, for a fun game.
The Other One
Dec. 1, 1971
Boston Music Hall
There is in fact an earlier one, one of the most amazing shows ever, partly due to this tease, also due to a sick Bertha and Hard to Handle, among others...8-6-71.
