Looks Like Rain

No doubt there's a little schmaltz factor on the lyrics and all, but Bobby and Donna just wash over you on this one like a wave of lovely heartache.

Rabble-rousing banger here. Jerry kicks it up and up and the crowd just loves it.

Totally overlooked. One of the sweetest of the year. Rolls in at almost 6 min, closing a beaut set. I'm setting this to auto replay now. Check it out!

Overlooked! Comes out of a smokin' LIG and has that smokey, slinky, silky smolder of the best of '76.

More and more I'm convinced that the earliest Samsons are the best. So confident, so full of strut and swagger. Any other era with such consist force?

Deep Elem Blues
Dec. 28, 1970
Legion Stadium

Far-out funkfest from the too-short era when this was in rotation as an electric sexathon. Makes me think that Deep Elem is the godfather to Loose Lucy. Listen here and tell me it ain't the case.
Cold Rain and Snow
April 18, 1971
Lusk Field House - State University Of New York

Damn right Cucamonga007. Check out April 15, '70 for openers: It's up there at the top of this list. I stand by what I said, they opened with this when they knew they meant bizzness.... Cool version this: Funky butt from Phil, with sweet country harmonies.

Peak era for CR&S and this one doesn't disappoint. A wee bit slower than others from the time, but they were clearly working on it as a showpiece. I remember seeing them open shows with this and thinking, "ahhh, they mean it tonight...".
Turn On Your Love Light
Dec. 27, 1970
Legion Stadium

Short by standards of the time, clocking in at just over 12 minutes, but full of TNT and barks and yodels, as described. Caps off an uneven show with a good powerful blast.
Brokedown Palace
Dec. 27, 1970
Legion Stadium

Starts a little rough on the vocals, but comes together right quick and sails away on beautiful harmonies.
