Kicks off a the second set with a jam that creeps up on you and is suddenly shredding. Cool opener in an under-the-radar show.

Comes storming out the gate after 5 years on the shelf. The Devils drive this one, but everyone is on, up, and jumping.

Smooth highway. Bobby and Donna in sweet harmony, and with that whiff of grace that marks the best versions of Cassidy out there.

Good times for all on this sweet set closer, coming out of a killer TMNS.

Beautiful a capella outro here and check out Bobby's polyrythmic harmolodism during the last solo section for a treat.

Lazy Lightnin' -> Supplication
July 12, 1976
Orpheum Theater

Killer Supplication here, transition or no. Their superfunk tight, and blisteringly hot. The crowd goes bananas for it. You can hear Phil say something cryptic that sounds like "Steve: Alligator derelicts on Fairfax" before going into Deal, whatever that means.

Playin' In The Band

The second half, after a gorgeous Wheel, is tighter and more energetic than the first part. Sounds like Jerry and maybe the drummers were signalling for >>The Other One before coming back into PITB, which would have been the first one of '76. Instead, they settle into what might be a unique 12/8 jam over a strong 4/4 pulse (rather than reaching 6/8 TOO feeling) before following Phil out of the splintering shards back to the PITB, complete with a blown speaker. Tremendous musicianship, and a stunning reprise, which must have given the Heads quite a spin.
The Wheel

A real beaut. After a introspective and floating Playin' jam intro, this wheel coalesces into a dreamscape, like drifting down the highway between sleep and waking life. Yes, the transition back to Playin' is beautiful, too.

First inklings of what the Disco Dead sound will be start about here. This isn't meant to be dismissive. I freakin' love the Disco Dead.
