The Other One
Oct. 12, 1968
Avalon Ballroom

I was looking for a good O1 with the cryptical bookends AND new potato caboose that runs like on the Anthem record, this white hot version suits me just fine..Im writing as i listen but jeez-louise,it doesnt let up.A fine vintage indeed.
St. Stephen
May 5, 1977
New Haven Coliseum

I prefer this one to the one at Cornell U,and thats saying something..Donna nearly comes in early verse 2 and nearly steps on Jerrys toes as he isnt quite done, but he goes the extra mile here, clearly in the zone..Very,very nice.
Loser
March 16, 1973
Nassau Coliseum

A nice one,Jers vocals got a melancholy,wharf-rat type quality.I like the way this one builds,piano-as always- adds to this version.
Early Morning Rain
Nov. 3, 1965
Golden State Studios

These early cuts are gold..Sounds like brit-invasion Dead..Phil Lesh vocal is a treat.
Dark Star
Nov. 7, 1971
Harding Theatre

There is a dark theme right through to the end..Me+My Uncles a dark murder/ballad anyway but JGs still in O1mode ,with a direct/moody attack..Phil hints at a feelin groovy at around 9min during the 01 but that aint gonna happen here, not tonight, say the others.
