Couldn't agree more with the previous comments -- as a drummer myself, I much prefer the one drummer era. There was much greater variety of tempos, especially compared to the post-hiatus era. They were also able to change directions much more swiftly when it was just Billy. Having said that, the two drummers thing doesn't bother me on the songs that entered the repertoire post-hiatus, but it does on songs from '71-'74 when played post-hiatus (e.g. plodding versions of "Bertha," "They Love Each Other").
