Looks Like Rain
April 8, 1972
Wembley Empire Pool
This version is just beautiful. Made me tear up on a couple occasions. A fantastic performance from a fantastic show.
Casey Jones
Feb. 19, 1973
International Amphitheatre
The drumming from Bill on this one is absolutely relentless, and it really pushes it forward. Jerry's vocal is also top shape here. What a way to end a show!
New Minglewood Blues
May 15, 1970
Fillmore East (Late Show)
Definitely more of a fan of the funkier late 70s version, but this is white-hot. Jerry is tearing it up on the guitar, and then Bobby is tearing it up on vocals - I swear you can hear him growl at one point. Fuckin' awesome.
Wake Up Little Susie
April 3, 1970
Field House, U. of Cincinnati
The energy here is great - I think the backbeat helps a lot here with the tune. The acoustic set during this show in general is pretty great!
High Time
March 7, 1970
Civic Auditorium
Even under the haze, I can tell this is a special performance. The jams are filled with energy, and the slower moments are subtle and beautiful. This is definitely my favorite "High Time." Just a treat!
