Amazing that this one isn't here. Keith's first show, Pigpen absent.

Keith really adds some intensity. Do you know where your train is at 2am?

I can't believe this one isn't here. Short but very sweet.

This has to be one of the very best vocals I've ever heard Jerry do. Listen to it on headphones at volume. No guitar pyrotechnics here, but I love this version nonetheless.
Playin' In The Band

Pauley Pavilion - University of California

The outro chorus of Playin is unfortunately marred by some serious off-key singing by Donna; up until that point, this is a fantastic sandwich and I especially like Garcia's intensely creative, long soloing in the initial part of Playin'. Very good versions of UJB and MD make this one of the best jams of 1973 IMO.

This is great until the last two minutes, by which time I've certainly had enough (two minutes) of Sunshine Daydream, after which all the yelling and screeching for the next two minutes turns me off. I hate to be such a Debbie Downer, but I just don't get why that's enjoyable. Something that was endemic in 1973. First 8 minutes are gold, though.

Second time they opened with it. First was 3/18/67 according to jerrybase, and only done three other times after. Bob really forward in the mix. Interesting that they didn't open with it more often.
