Bouncy as it is lysergic. Unique phrasing from Jerry. Everybody’s vocals are on. The Rider is some pure country fried jamming if I’ve ever heard it.

This is The Dead at peak performance level. Cataclysmic version. Everyone is ON. Explorative and not a beat missed. Easily top 5 of 69.

Nice early electric version. Always preferred this key for Dire Wolf compared to when they changed it in the later years. Just right. Nice version.

Takes you right to Chicago. Jerry’s playing emulates the blues greats. Hard rocking version that reminds me of a Junior Wells cut. Highly recommend.

Haunting organ playing. Crystalline and psychedelic early version that feels very spacey. Great vocal delivery.

A ferocious mix of Jerry’s stunning virtuosity and Pigpens absolute control of the audience. This sounds like a hyperspace version of The Muddy Waters band, the boys bring the delta across the pond, while adding a few drops of some lysergic liquid in the water. Europe 72 is unique for having multiple sequences of Dark Star>Sugar Magnolia>Caution. This might be the best of that sequence and it’s the first time they pull it off too. Pigpen has some attitude on the organ, and continues to let off some steam on his harmonica. A twister that spins you around and around till you reach the eye of the storm into a delicate, and mind bending space, that lasts no longer than a few seconds. What happens after is some of the most violent, and ferocious jamming I’ve ever heard these guys do, the twister becomes larger and larger destroying everything in its path. A cosmic calamity of massive proportions. Also shout out to Jerry’s slide playing, some voodoo was going on in Wembley.

This is a shockingly underrated show, the musicianship from these first few songs are enough to win me over, and Bobby's graceful vocals to start this off really has me excited to hear what's in store for the rest of the set.

Bobby tells the audience about that happy sound which is Phil exorcising the evil spirits out of is amplifier, proceeded by Phil shouting “OUT” “OUT” over and over again while slapping his bass to get those evil spirits out of there. Oh yeah, this version rocks too. One of the best shows of all time.

Hi Brandon, If you're looking for some Playin's, I'd highly recommend you check out 5/24/72 from this tour. Europe 72 in my opinion is their best tour, and also the breeding grounds for what Playin' will later become known for. My personal favorite from this tour is 4/24/72. That one more like being shot out of a cannon and traveling straight to Jupiter, brain melting stuff, but if you're looking for mellow, 5/4/72, 3/22/72, and if you're down for a longer journey, I'd also recommend 10/18/72 and 11/15/72 which are both some of my absolute favorites. For 73 I'd also highly recommend 6/22/73 for some lightspeed geometric jamming.

China Doll performed on the Moon. Gooey, and liquid in form, this China Doll is beautiful macabre and utterly endearing, this a moving, emotive performance with Bobby playing some of the most delicate lines in his entire career.
