Drums

Palace Theater

A mighty a primal drum section reminiscent of the early acid test days. Follows after a rare Cryptical and breaks through into The Other One.

Shocked that this hasn't been listed! Great energy with some decimating lines from Jerry and Bobby is screaming his big ol heart out. Great version.

Drums -> Space

Jerry and Bobby create a beautiful space before TOO. A conversation in strings. Billy and Mickey create primal, carnivorous music. Hunting music.

Pretty Peggy O

What a crown jewel Pretty Peggy O can be. A truly tender version that washes away all my worries. These 74 versions are quite special.

Me and My Uncle

The Dead take the Parisians through a cowboys surrealist day dream. Check out how both Keith and Jerry are utterly locked into the music.

The Other One
Oct. 31, 1969
San Jose state university

Tragically overlooked is right. Seems to be getting away from the early tropes some of the early versions are known for. Powerful with Jerry’s vibrato being particularly on fire. Some crazy portal ripping inter dimensional jamming on this one. Reminiscent of what they’ll do later in Europe.
Eyes Of The World
Sept. 11, 1974
Alexandra Palace

Visions of color shapeless in form. Divine Phil solo. Ned also sits in for this one adding some incredible ideas to the mix. An extended intro that radiates with so much energy and inertia. There are no words to describe just how good this is. Voodoo (phil)ed Stronger Than Dirt Jam which descends into deep electric space. The band dissolves into nothingness, until a spark of inspiration, takes the band into intergalactic dimensions never explored by man before, or since. Highly HIGHLY recommend.
Not Fade Away
Sept. 10, 1974
Alexandra Palace

Just a stupidly fun version. Fractal type jams that combine all 4 natural elements. Flows like water, free as the wind, grounded in earth, ferocious like fire. Ice hot like a dragon spitting blue flame. This has been on repeat for me.
Wharf Rat
Sept. 9, 1974
Alexandra Palace

Pristine, celestial, spacey Wharf Rat. Super creative intense melodic ideas from EVERYONE. Surprised to see this this far down. Arguably one of the best I’ve heard. 11 minutes of pure bliss coming out of a red hot Truckin’.
Viola Lee Blues
April 26, 1969
The Electric Theatre

Dripping in psychedelia. Every note that Jerry plays take the trip further and further into the unknown. Excellent ferocious, almost violent jamming, that surprisingly never loses focus. Creative and free form music that transcends into the spirit world and into the land of the dead. One of the best for sure in my opinion. Phenomenal interplay.
