This is probably the best music ever played anywhere on planet Earth. Pigpen joins right in the thick of the most hairy section, putting the lie to the claim he couldn't jam. Ernie, you don't like Bobby McGee? That always has an incredible solo....

It's developing--slower now, and there's the bridge in it at this point. This number takes a quantum leap on September 9th, which ushers in a golden age up to the hiatus....there's a nice little mini-jam at the end here, though, so this is not chopped liver

This song always sounded kind of like a mess to me, partly because Weir never really committed to the lyrics. I guess I hear what they're trying to do with this one, though, and it's cool.
