Friend of the Devil
Feb. 1, 1978
Uptown Theatre
Underrated show here, apparently. This is a good version from an excellent show.

Me and My Uncle
May 14, 1978
Providence Civic Center
Starting to be a little disco-inflected, but none the worse for it; Garcia is firing away...

Black Throated Wind

Academy of Music
Really solid version; about as good as it gets

Not Fade Away
May 10, 1980
Hartford Civic Center
Rather surprising this hasn't been submitted, this show seeks a bit underrated in general. Garcia gets majorly vicious here.

Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodeloo
March 26, 1973
Baltimore Civic Center
Not the very best era for this, but it’s really good nonetheless
Greatest Story Ever Told
March 31, 1973
War Memorial
‘73 mellowness is evident, but damned if it doesn’t work. Yes, like many from this era, the chord changes in the break suggest St. Stephen, and Garcia leans into it a bit here— compare with 5/20 for a ‘73 version with even more St. Stephen (later they altered the chord changes, so no SS post-hiatus). EDIT: Carrion Crow pretty much covered it above
Bertha
March 31, 1973
War Memorial
Perfectly grooving, exemplifies the best of the era’s many fruits
Promised Land
March 31, 1973
War Memorial
But also Keith. Really just a great mix in general
Promised Land

War Memorial
For this I vote on account of Garcia is really high in the mix and clear as the proverbial bell. That is what a man needs in a Promised Land.
