Friend of the Devil
Feb. 1, 1978
Uptown Theatre
Underrated show here, apparently. This is a good version from an excellent show.

Me and My Uncle
May 14, 1978
Providence Civic Center
Starting to be a little disco-inflected, but none the worse for it; Garcia is firing away...

Black Throated Wind
March 22, 1972
Academy of Music
Really solid version; about as good as it gets

Not Fade Away
May 10, 1980
Hartford Civic Center
Rather surprising this hasn't been submitted, this show seeks a bit underrated in general. Garcia gets majorly vicious here.

Jack Straw
Feb. 1, 1978
Uptown Theatre
As good as it gets, with powerful post-"Keep us on the run" break
Jack Straw
July 10, 1990
Carter-Finley Stadium
Wow this never stood out (I was there, and heard it a few times since) but Jerry really gets down to business on that last solo
Playin' In The Band
June 19, 1976
Capitol Theatre
Wonderful. There's something so fluid and restrained about this era, and even the spooky stuff is kind of buttoned-down in a way; the clarity and precision of it all is its own kind of trip...
Tennessee Jed
June 19, 1976
Capitol Theatre
Man, Garcia is smooth and fluid and masterful here, what a great version
Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower
June 19, 1976
Capitol Theatre
Why is this site so buggy? I get 'Bad Gateway' all the time. Anyway, I really, really love this Slipknot!, which has a mysterious power. Franklin's is indeed pretty perfect (although HOTW seems a bit sleepy)
