This is great because I can really get into hearing Garcia cut loose like this. But this isn't close to the best ever. For one thing, he gets a kind of mournful beauty into his solo on the best ones. For another, the peripherals here (all the stuff aside from Garcia's shredding) are not that great, it's kind of ragged. That's fine, I'm not saying it isn't great. but for me it's not close to #1. Everyone should hear it before they die, though.

This is a par version, I'd say. The one from Jan. 10 is much better. Great show, but there are a few numbers in the first set that are par (nothing below par) and this is one of them.
