Deal
Oct. 10, 1981
Stadt Halle

Incendiary second solo becomes delicate and beautiful before they build the final refrain.

Deal

Rainbow Theater

You can't compare 70s Deals w/ late 1980 onward. There's a four minute shredded 2nd solo on this one that wasn't a part of Deal in its 1st decade.

Deal
Sept. 25, 1980
Warfield Theater

This is the first one with the second solo, revamped for the 15th anniversary.

Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodeloo
Jan. 8, 1979
Madison Square Garden

Pre rio grandeo is good, but there are two peaks post rio grandeo, one built off the other and the latter crashes into Franklin's Tower.

Stella Blue
May 13, 1981
Civic Center

A fluttery and lyrical solo after the bridge and then an autobiography of an outro. There is a video on YouTube.

Sugaree
March 25, 1985
Springfield Civic Center

The second and third solos are off the hook. If you can handle some '85 roughness, this one brings heat.
Comes A Time
July 17, 1976
Orpheum Theatre

I just got this in the mail and this was the first thing I cued up. I wholeheartedly endorse the thoughts of the other commenters. Listen quickly.
Wharf Rat
July 8, 1978
Red Rocks Amphitheatre

I first heard this in 1999 and it's been my favorite since then. It's all about Jerry in the pearly's been true section. I bet this one will get a bump from the July 78 box.
Terrapin Station
April 22, 1977
The Spectrum

If you like this song, you should hear this one, if only for the fact that this is number 6. The aesthetic is sweet, but this is not the best one ever.
The Wheel
April 22, 1977
The Spectrum

Yes, it's short - I cannot lie. It's also perfect in a number of respects and you'd better hope you get some gapless playback as it goes into the sixth terrapin ever - because that 20 seconds or so are some awesome (quiet) stuff.
