Deal

Stadt Halle

Incendiary second solo becomes delicate and beautiful before they build the final refrain.

Deal
Oct. 4, 1981
Rainbow Theater

You can't compare 70s Deals w/ late 1980 onward. There's a four minute shredded 2nd solo on this one that wasn't a part of Deal in its 1st decade.

Deal
Sept. 25, 1980
Warfield Theater

This is the first one with the second solo, revamped for the 15th anniversary.

Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodeloo
Jan. 8, 1979
Madison Square Garden

Pre rio grandeo is good, but there are two peaks post rio grandeo, one built off the other and the latter crashes into Franklin's Tower.

Stella Blue
May 13, 1981
Civic Center

A fluttery and lyrical solo after the bridge and then an autobiography of an outro. There is a video on YouTube.

Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodeloo
April 22, 1977
The Spectrum

The start is sloppy and this is the second song of the spring 77 tour. But order is restored and everything else gets a little extra effort to make up for the missed verse. The pre and post rio grandeo guitar is unique - a recommended listen for those who like 77 half step.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
April 24, 1978
Horton Field House - Illinois State University

To me this is the most aesthetically pleasing transition, that is, the most beautiful one. The scarlet and the fire (the actual songs!) are good enough. But this transition is pure. I do like other transitions, but none for being sweet and perfect like this one.
Dark Star
July 13, 1984
Greek Theatre, U. Of California

I like this Dark Star. And that is all.
China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
April 1, 1980
Capitol Theatre

The transition has been better, but all of Garcia's breaks in the Rider will get your attention, esp. the last as klaussmith says.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
May 15, 1981
Rutgers Athletic Center

Here is a great one hidden in plain sight.
