Feelin' Groovy Jam
Feb. 24, 1973
University of Iowa

This one emerges from a Phil solo. There are only two fragments of this show on the archive.

Brother Esau

City Island

Sometimes hard to tell one from another. But whatever. This one is good. It's from City Island, which should have been a cool spot to watch a show.

There is some magic post rio grandeo.

It's All Over Now Baby Blue
Aug. 14, 1981
Seattle Center Coliseum

Strike another match, go start anew: First one in 7 years. Sweet and slow, like the dozens to follow in the 80s and 90s.

Deal
Nov. 28, 1980
Lakeland Civic Center

This is quite strong, closely related to the top 5 deal two days later at the fox. Cornell and the Field Trip (which round out the top 5 after 11/30) are, as is their habit with other songs, unjustifiably out in front of this deal, though I'd say this one is more like top 20.
Deal
Sept. 2, 1983
Boise Pavilion - Boise State University

Around the 6 minute mark on the excellent Hunter Seamons matrix, Jerry plays a sequence that he frequently uses to slow the second Deal solo down to get ready to sing the refrain. But in this version, the whole band locks into the sequence and the peak that comes out of that energy sustains the song for another three minutes. I've been on a early 80s Deal search and this one is a great one to call it a night on.
Deal

Ventura County Fairgrounds

So many peaks. He's sailing sublimely along like 5 seconds into that 2nd solo and he never looks back.
Deal

Rainbow Theater

I couldn't agree more. A blown lyric is a strong predictor of imminent shredding.
Crazy Fingers
June 26, 1976
Auditorium Theatre

This is pretty good. The outro shifts into the minor key a little too quickly for me, but the rest of the song is beautiful.
