Ship of Fools
July 5, 1981
Zoo Amphitheater

Well sung and Brent tickles the ivories, creating the feeling of a ship at sea. Most importantly, Garcia's solo is emotion in every bend of a string

Good Lovin'
Aug. 5, 1971
Hollywood Palladium

Awesome bass leads from Phil, great drumming from Billy, and classic Pigpen rapping.

Alligator
Nov. 1, 1969
Family Dog at the Great Highway

Great Acid-Soaked Jams after the initial song. Includes nice WBYGN and UJB jams.

Me and Bobby McGee
Dec. 5, 1971
Felt Forum - Madison Square Garden

Jerry plays an incredible melody throughout the entire 6 and a half min piece. Some unique 71 goodness

Row Jimmy
May 19, 1977
Fox Theatre

My favorite Row Jimmy. Second instrumental break gives the impression of a ship at sea, rocking back and forth rhythmically to the tide, and waves breaking and crashing upon the deck.
The Other One
Oct. 16, 1977
Louisiana State U

The two drummers are clickin' away. Love the different percussion patterns on this date. Garcia's leads and Phil's bombs are great as always.
Mississippi Halfstep Uptown Toodeloo
Dec. 11, 1972
Winterland Arena

Holy mackerel! This is a certainly a hidden gem. LISTEN UP FOLKS! This tune needs some good lovin'.
I've Been All Around This World
Oct. 18, 1980
Saenger Performing Arts Center

This gives me chills. Beautiful playing. Brent with awesome piano fills as well.
Loose Lucy
June 9, 1973
RFK Stadium

this is the only Loose Lucy from 73 or 74 when they really let loose (pun intended). Extended jam after the tune that really punctuates the groove. Hidden gems like this Loose Lucy are what made the Dead famous for their spontaneity and ingenuity. Unbelieveable version. This needs to be at the top.
