Frost Amphitheatre

At times a Brent and Bobby duet, not the most jammed out version but lyrically beautiful and musically rather tight.

Deep Elem Blues
Dec. 1, 1966
Studio demo

This is crazy sick, this whole entire show is dripping in psychedelic goodness a true gem from the early days.
Dark Star
Oct. 23, 1972
Milwaukee Performing Arts Center

Close to a half hour of absolute pure Dark Star magic from possibly its best year of 1972, Brilliant and a shocker that it was not already here. Deserves your attention, a true classic.
New Speedway Boogie
June 7, 1970
Fillmore West

Just listened not really acoustic though some may be on acoustic instruments, some def on electric. i see it is listed as acoustic in deadbase, so maybe its a half and half or something, very sparse and not a ripper has that cool laid back 1970 feel, the solos are definitely not an acoustic but bobby may be playing one. Really nice early version. i had this on cd back in the day, never had the tape of this one though. Thanks for the reminder of what a good show this is. Ok according to the tapers compendium addendum this is partially acoustic as some changed gear following Swing Low, some stayed acoustic through the end of the set.
The Other One
Nov. 8, 1987
Red Rocks Amphitheatre

The way they enter the other one on this evening (Out of a hot short Spanish Jam) is the best non phil bomb entrance i have ever heard. Absolutely sounds like a spaceship landing, tremendous, then Jerry just starts blistering notes through the atmospherics. This is truly some really cool shit, Brent is pounding away, Healy screws with Bobby's lyrics right off the bat as Brent is going nuts on the keys, really a spacey heady trip. Jerry leads the jm post lyrics, ripping notes furiously as Bent and Phil stay right with him. They are really ripping this with some major intensity. Jerry starts heading into space with Brent twinkling nicely along. The drummers and Phil are keeping the jam somewhat grounded in the other theme as Jerry noodles away (in a real good way). They begin the return to the theme and the pace is exhilarating. Jerry and Brent build the tension perfectly as they return to the vocals Healy still morphing and messing with bobby's voice. A truly interstellar outer-space version of the classic the other one.

An absolute beast this is the best in my humble opinion a true Monster. This is the definitive version to me.
