Eyes Of The World
Sept. 20, 1973
The Spectrum

Very nice intro out of a hot Nobody's fault Jam, Billy seems to signal Eyes using the cymbals and keeps up a heavier use of them throughout the intro, The Horns are more reserved in the beginning here than on some others. Just adding flavor as opposed to jumping right in the jam. Nice an mellow through verse one. very smooth jam after the first verse, has that great floating feeling Eyes can give you. Jerry is certainly feeling it and Keith is right there with him for a nice jam. Again the horns were more an accompniament then immersed in the first jam. Great verse two the horns again holding back a little and its perfect. Bobby really hits the wake up to find out line hard. Keith playing nicely along, then Jerry rips into another nice run and he is off the horns and keith following along beautifully. As always in 1973 Eyes Billy is just unbelievable a true force of nature. Verse 3 contains a minor vocal miscue hardly perceptible, the jam after it is very hot Jerry leading the way with the horns nd keith in hot pursuit and Phil starting to carpet bomb the proceedings. Phil steers the jam beautifully into stronger than dirt, and with a blast that portion of the jam begins, the horns are getting more assertive but still tastefully letting Phil really drive this jam and he more than obliges. This jam gets nice and spacey in a jazzy way. Very cool nice return to the stronger than dirt theme with Phil still really in control of the proceedings and the horns very nicely adding to the jam. This may be the best of the Fierro Eyes it is great and dare i say Heady. Very long Stronger Than Dirt "Like" Section is taken down from free jazz to near silence to meld beautifully into a fine and delicate Stella Blue. I added the word like because ill go around all day if you try and say its not STD like.
Eyes Of The World

Onondaga County War Memorial

Nice hornless intro led by Bobby and the drummers then Phil joins in nicely, the horns arrive during the first verse, adding a nice flavor, I am glad these exist but i am also glad they do versions without the horns. Really sound good during the chorus. Keith is very hot pounding away on the keys. Donna is nice and restrained on the backing vocals. First jam Martin and Jerry lock nicely. Very sweet smooth jams. Billy K is laying down a beautiful foundation.Very strong verse two plaing and signing. The horn accompanies the vocals very smoothly and Phil is starting to perk up. NExt Jam Jerry leaps out front shooting off lines like he does very sweet and smooth sounding, the horns making a very jazzy feel to the song. They lay back and let Jerry have his way for a little before verse 3. This one os all Jerry on vocals except the verses. Very sweet and restrained Donna and Bobby on those backing vocals. There is an unfortunate cut during the final jam that leads into the stronger than dirt section, not sure how much is missing but it sounds like a bit is certainly missing. Still a very hot and great Jazzy version. The horn players go towards free jazz during the closing strongr than dirt segment with Phil just blasting bombs and Jerry Flying above the proceedings cascading beautiful notes down on the jam. The jam with the horn players, phil and jerry gets real hot towards the end the horns blowing like crazy, Billy pounding away, Keith clamoring, Phil bombing and Jerry just ripping. Bobby laying down his special style rhythm the whole ensemble is definitely into this. Beautifully steer the chaos into a delicate Weather Report. Fantastic

Got obstructed nose bleeds for the three days. Luckily A friend also got me a really good ticket for friday so as of now i may have one extra for friday, i am first offering it to my salesman's son. He is a young 19 year old that loves the grateful dead, not much of a phish fan. He tried mail and ticket bastard and was rejected. he may only go if i can find him the other two days which right now looks like good luck. I dont mind paying a little premium but this is blood money they are asking on these scalper sites. they used to be brokers but these are scalper prices.
Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues

Madison Square Garden

Very cool Jerry and Bobby are playing very contrasting lines but they work and Phil is confidently belting it out. Jerry is bubbly and bright bobby is rugged and raw. Confident Phil delivery and a beautiful liquid Jerry solo. Wonderful when they come back Phil having a lot of fun and jerry ripping it. Stands very close to the original but still bunches of fun. October 1994 has a couple good ones. Definitely gets my up vote.
