Personally I don’t think it crosses over the line into “oh yeah that’s dark star” - it might hint at dark star a little but still feels like it’s in an open space between playin and wharf rat more than overtly star. But that’s just me…

Really love this one. And the Bobby McGee. They come out of space beautifully. No other version of HCS melts down as thoroughly as this one- correct me if im wrong!

This is my favorite version I think. I love the 2 72’s and the 74 version as well, but I really love the solidified arrangement they come up with once it’s back in the repertoire for good in the early 80’s. And this one just has an amazing vocal performance from Jerry, and a really fantastic solo too. So dynamic and pulled off with style.
