They charge into this one just as the Other One is coming to a close. Some sloshy moments in the final SSDD jam but they bring it home for sure.

I’m guessing you’re referring to the seastones? I agree completely if so. It’s very different from other seastones and it does sound like they’re playing with instruments not yet invented

Have to disagree with this being the tightest version or “perfect” - it’s a lovely version of the song, don’t get me wrong, but we get some funky moments / missed chords on this take. I feel like there are a few others from 74 with a tighter execution

Wow I was expecting this one to be a lot higher. Brisker tempo than usual. Amazing Phil performance on this one, still processing our loss of Phil Lesh and was really moved by the bridge in this version. It’s just Phil and Jerry singing together. It’s also hard to seperate this individual song from the sequence that it’s apart of. He’s Gone > Caution Jam was just before Truckin, and then we get this Black Peter. Whole thing feels like a tribute to Pigpen, on their final run here… all stuck inside a sugar magnolia / SSDD sandwich lol
