Outrageous version. Takes a second to get the mix dialed in, but man they blow the roof off. This has to be one of the best Wall of Sound shows.

Playin' In The Band

Rotterdam Civic Hall

Bobby's vocals are rough on the beginning, but the jamming after more than makes up for it.
Dark Star
Oct. 26, 1989
Miami Arena

Is this the most controversial dark star of all time? Setting aside the obvious absurdity of this version being rated higher than dozens of better 68-74 versions, I can understand why people go for this one. It's one of the furthest out jams I've ever heard from the post-coma period, fearlessly and ruthlessly diving deeper at every turn. Yet, it also suffers from the same keyboard spam that can be found in all of the late-era dark stars. My honest take: this is a great later era dark star, perhaps the best (3/29/90 may also lay claim), but it doesn't do it for me the way that the pre-75 versions do.
