Uncle John's Band
March 27, 1995
The Omni

Talk about a sleeper...along with the "PITB" before it, this is probably the last time the Grateful Dead really went the distance in terms of jamming.

Promised Land

Alpine Valley

Searing work from Brent in a typically strong 1989 version. Surprised this was represented from a legendary show.

Giants Stadium

Rockin' version from the summer of '89.

Giants Stadium

Creepy crawly version with lots of different themes and moods just like all good Spaces.

Not exceptionally long but still a very good version. Phil's great here.

Dark Star

Hampton Coliseum

My favorite part of this one is how it finds it ways back to the second verse. The first break after verse 1 gets way out there.
Dark Star
Dec. 16, 1992
Oakland Coliseum Arena

They did the first verse a couple of days earlier, I think. I think this is also the last time Jerry ever sang the second verse.

Copps Coliseum

I've really been loving on this one lately. This is the last time where "Dark Star" really felt like an 'event' at a show, and it holds its own against others from this 1989-91 very well. Good length and stays close to the surface but still has that eeriness I love in a "Dark Star." Vince's organ work is excellent. And yea, garces is right: there are hints of "Fire on the Mountain" at the end. If only.
Jack Straw

Madison Square Garden

Should be way higher. Maybe the best Hornsby era version. If 9-19-90 and 6/6/91 can get double digit votes, this can hang with them without a second thought.
They Love Each Other

Deer Creek Music Center

Bruce is excellent on this version. So crisp.
