Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower
Sept. 2, 1983
Boise Pavilion - Boise State University

This Slipknot jam is a MONSTER (go directly to jam). Listen to Phil and Jerry communicate and battle. Results in new heights previously unheard of!

This is THE KILLER BEW! High energy, INSANE Jerry licks in solo, blazes into Jerry screaming "Delilah Jones was the mother of twins!"

How this is not considered the best Loser I'll never know. Absolutely insane Jerry solo ending with an EXPLOSION into "Last fair deal..."

Perfect pace and groove. Super hot ending jam starting by blasting the main lick full band full force. Awesome Jerry licks to complete.

Alligator

Fillmore East

It's all about the jam after drums. This is one of the best GD jams ever, not just for Alligator. Great Jerry, Phil, and Bobby work. Finishes with a surprise Saint Stephen jam. You can hear the audience roar when it's recognized as Saint Stephen. The jam is unreal. Don't screw around - go right to the jam!
Wharf Rat
April 28, 1971
Fillmore East

A powerful Wharf Rat, no doubt. IMHO, this kicks the crap out of 2/18/71 (which is somehow voted #1). One listen and it's easy to see this is a powerhouse Wharf Rat.

This is voted the best Wharf Rat ever? I listened assuming I was going to be blown away. Actually, it's played fairly sloppy and there is next to no jam. Are these votes because it is the first? I would hope people would vote based on the quality of the music. 26 votes and virtually no commenting on why this is the one. If you're into '71 Wharf Rats, check out 4/26 and 4/28. I'm trying to understand how someone could say this 2/18 WR is better than either of those. 5/19/74 is my all time favorite.
Scarlet Begonias
July 19, 1974
Selland Arena

Wow - this Scarlet is no joke. At that 4:30 mark, I think it's actually "overdrive" that we are hearing on Jerry's guitar, which brings out a truly ruthless Jerry (something I can't say I have really heard in '74). After listening once, listen again but focus on Phil, Bobby, and Keith (on Fender Rhodes, I believe). Everyone is improvising and creating an unbelievable sound behind Jerry. Really great. Highly recommend.

"Relentless" is absolutely the correct word to use to describe Jerry's playing in this BRB. He plays this one out to the death. It's almost comical how far he takes it. Never heard a BRB like it!
