Soaring and scorching!
Wharf Rat
Sept. 22, 1993
Madison Square Garden

Grendel, this really is an excellent show. The Throwing Stones out of Wharf Rat is one of the best of the 90's, thanks to Murray's energy. But even before he joins them onstage, the first set rocks with the opening Help-Slip-Frank, then Jerry's MIDI rips on Ramble, the gorgeous Masterpiece, and Bird Song is one for the ages. Plus, these are two of the best overall versions of Easy Answer and Lazy River. Worth checking out for sure!
Viola Lee Blues
Nov. 10, 1967
Shrine Auditorium

Rip-roaring, scorching, explosive prime primal for sure. This Viola could be a notch above Harpur, much as we all love 5/2/70. The strongest tunes of 5/2/70 are the Good Lovin' and the Dancin' and the Cryptical out of the Other One (plus everything else, but...). This show has a very close Cryptical Coda too. Amazing. Ridiculous.

Scorching, blistering, wicked, searing, smoking, soaring, roaring. The adjectives are never ending. As great as any. Possibly the best. As always... Wait for it.... Takes a little while to get there..... Primal Primal.
