Best Loser you haven’t heard yet! Jerry takes the solo for an extra walk around the block! Required listening folks!

Cole Field House

Jerry’s tone is just impeccable here! Moreover, Jerry adds a tad more umph to the soulful vocals. A standout of the era!

Big River
Oct. 21, 1973
Omaha Civic Auditorium

Blazing version, but I nominated it primarily for its placement within the context of the tasty Playin'->Half-Step->Big River->Playin' sandwich.

Jerry's pipes never sounded sweeter, and Keith's barrel-house piano chops complements perfectly!

Orpheum Theatre

Deserves mention.

The Wolf made his first attack at the Nassau show on 9/7/73. Another great '73 jewel to behold!

1981? Bird Song? Yes please...
Bird Song
May 4, 1981
The Spectrum

They didn't play bird Song this night. But they they did at the Spectrum two nights earlier! Indeed, that version got out there a bit. Not among the very best of the year imho (2/26, 3/7, 3/9, 12/5), but very good nonetheless. I've always found '81 to be the best year for Bird Songs, besides the beasts of '72-'73.
Fire On The Mountain
Oct. 31, 1980
Radio City Music Hall

Like most heads, I prefer my Fire paired with Scarlet (the '77-'78 period is hard to beat), but there's something to be said about this particular stand alone version. Jerry's vocals sound particularly pleasing for the period, and just listen to his chops around the 6:15-6:45 mark!

Great Phil bombs to boot! Get the Jim Wise/Charlie Miller AUD - You'll feel the warmth.
