Despite the cut at the beginning and a few lyrical flubs, this is still a passionate early one, with the recent disaster of Altamont haunting it.

Fantastic one! The band sounds like they're about to combust while Pig gets the audience amped up. Great on every level.

A super friendly and uptempo version. Love the organ on this one - so soulful and fun.

Tons of fun - everyone's getting involved, including Keith with some nice flourishes. Jerry's solo is tight and the ending is superb.

I've always loved this song, particularly when it's uptempo and full like this version. The fire continues onto Mexicali Blues.

Man...I think that's just a bit of an overreaction there. I mean, isn't the whole point of the GD's music (and music in general, really) to bring us together - not divide us? ................. Speaking of, I have a fondness for this one, as well as Cornell in general. See, my mom's not a Head by any stretch of the imagination, but she does enjoy their music and it never fails to make her happy. I'll tell ya...driving through the desert mesas of Arizona at sunset, my mom singing along to Fire on the Mountain from this very show, the whole world orange and pink and aglow with the light of the cosmos...that's a moment I wouldn't trade for anything. If that makes me, or her, just a dumb American for enjoying this version...well, I'll gladly take it.

I can't say enough good things about this early one. Different lyrics, a slightly different vibe from later versions, but my GOD is it a spicy performance. Aggressive, manic, and Garcia's tone is as heavy as it ever got. This is how The Other One should be played - pure volume and energy all the way through.

That’s a great way of putting it! I’ve always thought they totally nailed this song when playing it, but could never put my finger on why it was so good. The way you describe it, the magic might just be in the solo! At the very least, that’s what makes this particular version stand out.
