Playin' In The Band
May 3, 1979
Charlotte Coliseum
Mr. Mystery, I'm not hearing anything special at all at that time. What source are you referring to? I'd love to hear what you're hearing!
Jack Straw
April 22, 1979
Spartan Stadium - San Jose State University
A friend of a friend actually blew a car speaker while playing this, thanks to Phil.
Dark Star
Sept. 16, 1972
Boston Music Hall
This would be on my list for within the top 5 of '72 if Phil was more present in the mix. As the above poster mentions, though, Billy is well recorded and gives the rest of the boys a solid, sparkling foundation and direction.
Shakedown Street
April 30, 1981
Greensboro Coliseum
Among the best Shakes of '81, with some unique stuff happening during the outro.
Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower
Sept. 2, 1983
Boise Pavilion - Boise State University
Jerry shred-fest here! I'm commenting on solely the Slipknot; interesting that there's no entry here for just that jam. I think it's easily one of the best Slips of the 80s. But you gotta bypass the Help, it's vocally dismal, and they flub the arpeggios.
