Feel Like A Stranger
March 22, 1990
Copps Coliseum
Jerry's solo is so damn juicy that I accidentally put it in a glass and served it with breakfast. No one will ever produce guitar riffs like he did- simple yet hyperintelligent, loose yet surgically-precise.
Feel Like A Stranger
Oct. 12, 1984
Augusta Civic Center
Jerry loved Maine, and the boys played there disproportionately often for such a sparsely populated state. Every single Maine show has that heavy yet loose/carefree psych-funk energy to it.
Playin' In The Band
July 1, 1973
Universal Amphitheatre
The Dead are really a jazz group. This version is prime evidence of that.
The Other One
Dec. 7, 1968
Bellarmine College
Jerry may as well have taken the entire crowd and dunk-tanked them in a vat of LSD.
The Eleven
April 12, 1969
Student Union Ballroom, U. Utah
Effortlessly cool. Jerry's guitar is pure liquid.
