Candyman

Giants Stadium

Gorgeous soloing from Jerry and a tender vocal performance. The new mix on the Giants box really lets this one shine.

Paramount Northwest Theatre

Bobby is dripping trippy chords all over the jam. SUBLIME

Surprised this has no votes. This version is played with a level of energy and precision CJ rarely ever got. Great set 2 opener.

El Paso

Felt Forum, Madison Square Garden

Lyrically precise, energetic playing, and everyone sounds like they're enjoying themselves. What more could you ask for on this one?

The shorter versions need love to, and this one hits all the sweet spots.

Truckin'
Oct. 19, 1974
Winterland Arena

I agree with WALSH, they distinctly play the riff and then jam out of the chords, making everything that follows part of Truckin. As such, this is THE Truckin. So many different possibilities are explored and deconstructed only to be immaculately rebuilt in a way the Dead didn't always pull off so perfectly. This is top shelf Gratefully Dead y'all.
Brown Eyed Women
July 19, 1974
Selland Arena

That smooth energy goes into attack mode on the main solo break, with some competitive yet harmonious leads from Phil, Jerry and Keith. Underrated.
Tennessee Jed

Selland Arena

Bob matches Jerry's peaks with some truly creative lines. This version rocks.
Me and Bobby McGee
July 19, 1974
Selland Arena

There are better sung versions, but none are better played.
Stella Blue
May 21, 1974
Edmundson Pavilion

This one breaks free for a very subtle, gorgeous jam near the end. Worth checking out.
