The Other One
Oct. 27, 1979
Cape Cod Coliseum

Will blow your mind!!! And your speakers!!! Without a doubt, the most thunderous, intense, insane Phil intro ever!!! Raw power!!! In fact, he does the intro like three times throughout. Absolutely SICK. Then there’s Jerry...noodling like a madman. The body of the song and verses are played and sung just exactly perfect... oh, and don’t forget the jam prior to The O1!!!! Wow!!! So... they traverse the universe with all the cosmic authority that an Other One should... BUT...then... right after singing the second verse, something happens that is not only unexpected, it’s something that has to be heard to be believed. I mean, talk about the aliens making contact!!! OMG... on the official release, there is an aud patch that cuts in at the last part of the second verse and goes for about 20-30 seconds. No biggie...as soon as the soundboard comes back, get ready for it. The band enters another dimension. Sounds like you’ve never heard...never ever! Unbelievable. This is followed by one of the best Drums you’ll ever hear. Hands down, the best show of 1979, and one of the best Other Ones evah! ;-)

That repeating piano riff that they played on the early versions....melts me. It’s a shame they dropped it. Although, it really makes the early versions special. The first Eyes...a must hear, must have. This deserves as much attention as any version.

How in the world is this not right next to 8/6/74?!?!?! 6/18/74 is EPIC!!!! Not only the Eyes > China Doll... but the entire show is something special. Top 20 show of all time. This EOTW is top 3, at least. Hardcore jazzy jamming.

Was at this show...FYI...one of the best versions of FLAS ever!!! Also, Playin and Terrapin are huge! Just for the record... the Brown Eyed Women that follows that epic Stranger... it’s also absolutely amazing!!!! As far as Birdsong... w/Bruce on accordion, by the way!!! It’s a fantastic version indeed! Just listen...
