Loser

Radio City Music Hall

Best Loser you haven’t heard yet! Jerry takes the solo for an extra walk around the block! Required listening folks!

Cole Field House

Jerry’s tone is just impeccable here! Moreover, Jerry adds a tad more umph to the soulful vocals. A standout of the era!

Big River
Oct. 21, 1973
Omaha Civic Auditorium

Blazing version, but I nominated it primarily for its placement within the context of the tasty Playin'->Half-Step->Big River->Playin' sandwich.

Universal Amphitheatre

Jerry's pipes never sounded sweeter, and Keith's barrel-house piano chops complements perfectly!

Orpheum Theatre

Deserves mention.

They Love Each Other

Winterland Arena

Can't go wrong with this one!
Playin' In The Band
Nov. 9, 1973
Winterland Arena

I can't hardly add anything to this stupendous version from what's already been written above. I do feel this version has been criminally overlooked. This is the famed November month from 1973! This Is Winterland! Some things can be taken for granted. Of course it's good! and you knew that before you even listened to it...
Stella Blue
Oct. 19, 1973
Oklahoma City Fairgrounds Arena

I waffle between this night and 6/30/73 for best Stella of '73. Both are hauntingly beautiful, and both are essential.
Morning Dew

Oklahoma City Fairgrounds Arena

Should be in the discussion for top three of the year for sure.
Playin' In The Band
Oct. 19, 1973
Oklahoma City Fairgrounds Arena

A personal favorite for a long while. While 1972 boasts several of the greatest versions -arguably the two best versions - I've always been of the opinion that the year 1973 contains more steller Playins' than any other year. Since this vintage holds such a plethora of great versions, the competition is stiff. This one should certainly make the top ten list for the year. Jerry is omnipresent on this version, but all members add their own key flourishes. Together they make for a single organism with a shared vision that packs in so many great ideas in under 19 minutes. A treasure to behold.
